Camos Crank Up Flat Sat System
The new Camos Crank up satellite system represents a real breakthrough.
Instead of a conventional dish, the Flat-Sat uses a planar antenna to catch a satellite’s beam. This is a very efficient method and enables the “dish” to be much smaller, taking up less room on a vehicle’s (or boat’s) roof and making it easier both to install and use.
In the case of this model, the antenna measures 40cm across but has a performance similar to a dish of 50cm diameter. When the Camos Crank up is in it’s parked position, the unit’s height is just 12cm.
As well as being small in size, the Camos Crank up Flat Sat system has the additional advantage of being light in weight. At just 5.5 Kgs, it’s almost half the weight of other crank-up systems.
The antenna’s design makes it much more resistant to wind than a normal dish, allowing it to be used in conditions where other systems would have to be lowered for safety.
As with the Alden automatic version, this dish is a lot more tolerant in terms of adjustment than most conventional dishes. Although, obviously, they need to be pointed at the satellite, the angle of adjustment is less critical. After a bit of practise, setting the system up should take under a minute.
The dish is controlled from inside the vehicle using a ceiling-mounted cranking handle.

Installation very easy and took about 4 hours in total over 2 days as I waited for the Sika to set before fixing the flatsat dish to the baseplate.
Remember to measure twice as the instructions are not that clear on both the handles. I cut the crank up one in two stages to make sure I got it correct.
As for satellite reception it has been very good in Scotland and on 4 sites out of 5 took a couple of minutes only to set up. On the other site could not get reception because of a cliff close by with trees on the top but the motorhome next door with automatic system could not get reception either.
Delivery very fast and would recommend both the product and the supplier to anyone.
For anyone with a Swift Bolero 680FB (or similar)it will fit in the cupboard above the fridge with careful measurement.

Super fast delivery on this item. Installations instructions are poor, so do a little research and you will find articles on the web from people who have gone before. Now installed in my motorhome (took about 4 hours) it is a simply fantastic bit of kit. Picture far superior to my old Kathrein system. HD ready tv and freesat gives stunning picture. Also looks very sleek. Note, you will have additionally buy Sikaflex or similar. Kit was supposed to come with a compass, but it was not in the box. Overall though, absolutely delighted.
